The process I use, wet-plate collodion photography, is explained more thoroughly on my website. I'm planning to post some examples of my latest work with albumen and salt prints.<br />
I plan to be at the Hulston Mill civil war reenactment June 11-1 to make tintypes and glass negatives.<br />

<span style="text-align: center;">I didn't get any movie deals this year, after last year's work with the TV show American Horror Story (look back at last year's post for that shoot), and the 2012 work on the movie Beautiful Creatures. I did make a clip of the scene where my tintypes were used in the movie. Jeremy Irons is using the images to explain one of the teen protagonist's ancestry.</span>Bruce Schultzhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13724164905074838524noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6356396060955993824.post-41886743555178732432014-12-19T16:03:00.000-08:002016-08-09T11:31:44.765-07:00What I was up to for the past year:<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
In April, I conducted a gallery talk at the New Orleans Museum of Art for the Civil War photography exhibit. It premiered at the New York Metropolitan Art Museum in 2012, and included many images that had never been displayed publicly.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
In June, an image that Kevin Kline and I made in a series won second place at the Art Melt exhibit in Baton Rouge. That was a nice surprise, and a boost to the bank account too with prize money and the sale of the picture.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I worked with graphic designer Kate Ferry on a poster for the New Iberia Gumbo Festival. The poster has my tintypes of an oak tree at Avery Island, a fiddle, a crab, and cooking a gumbo.</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I no longer have my darkroom cart. It had gotten to be such an ordeal to load and unload it that I decided to downsize to a normal darkbox, and now I don't need a utility trailer either. So here's a last look at this masterpiece made by Ty Guillory of Mineola, Texas.</div>

It's a wrap!</h2>
<br />
Finished a project yesterday for the Acadiana Center for the Arts music program Louisiana Crossroads.<br />
<br />
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjW0TLmOE-L74d-RoMlqatNgZsCEWvnAi4P3BKhpq97Sy1HN7a737btO2Ch1HlroAtjBxiXejVjRPk88B_5gKUf2kjbj5O6NngvkmEHvlp6OKMUCJz7Tt7lMDQI3kToNNG9r3efdZpUOZg/s1600/joe+2.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" height="213" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjW0TLmOE-L74d-RoMlqatNgZsCEWvnAi4P3BKhpq97Sy1HN7a737btO2Ch1HlroAtjBxiXejVjRPk88B_5gKUf2kjbj5O6NngvkmEHvlp6OKMUCJz7Tt7lMDQI3kToNNG9r3efdZpUOZg/s320/joe+2.JPG" width="320" /></a> I needed images of an accordion player's hands and I managed to catch Joe Hall yesterday just as he was wrapping up his gig at Café Des Amis. We only had a few minutes because Joe and his Cane Cutters had to scoot down to New Orleans for another gig, so there were no retakes.<br />
<br />
<br />
I took other images with help from musicians Andrea Rubenstein, Hogie Seibert, Jimmy Duhon, Linda Castle and John Buckelew. You'll see the results from the design diva, Kate Ferry.<br />

Rolling!</h2>
<br />
Until 2 weeks ago, I'd only heard of the FX Network's show "American Horror Story." Then I got a phone call and they wanted me to come to New Orleans to shoot a tintype for the show. (They had gotten my name from wet-plate co-conspirator Kevin Kline.) <br />
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhsHX1gFeDvnn2EN3cxEiDHJdux8-4R2yz9kCkeMSemsCNWdSOVx9KiWpkmxfPVmz0UGzkZtIMmvpYMydeHeQZhWKKWAg_9mb5afCN_KivyCULKGuZv5VnOINWxKwxvJAhlELz8-IIAMCs/s1600/IMG_2083.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhsHX1gFeDvnn2EN3cxEiDHJdux8-4R2yz9kCkeMSemsCNWdSOVx9KiWpkmxfPVmz0UGzkZtIMmvpYMydeHeQZhWKKWAg_9mb5afCN_KivyCULKGuZv5VnOINWxKwxvJAhlELz8-IIAMCs/s320/IMG_2083.JPG" width="320" /></a>So we arrive at the Second Line sound stage warehouse complex, a maze of structures, and we find where we're supposed to be, but uncertain where to park and where to unload all my crap. I tell Kevin, "Let's just drive in here until we get kicked out." So we do, and snag a spot right in front of the door. <br />
The crew was working on its first day for the upcoming season, all set in New Orleans. They are building a huge mansion inside one warehouse. <br />
The morning we arrived, the show had just been nominated for 17 Emmy awards. <br />
We watched actress Frances Conroy (from the HBO show Six Feet Under) do a makeup/hair screen test.<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
We meet the director, Alfonso Gomez-Rejon; second assistant director Christoper d'Angelus, and find that they've set up a special tent for me to process my picture and for them to film the process.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhvKELwkL7FNfi6CFYLcD0S3Tfn6_336WDWgNRkP8quSBWkID6MHt74pI8KfubQAYa2jqTvko_JWDAYhXIIQbmsNa8k7FM1dGZ-1oaTCz6tO9eZkrPOKhSnnNdEj3u2tNdUtvIMESNdT7s/s1600/tent.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhvKELwkL7FNfi6CFYLcD0S3Tfn6_336WDWgNRkP8quSBWkID6MHt74pI8KfubQAYa2jqTvko_JWDAYhXIIQbmsNa8k7FM1dGZ-1oaTCz6tO9eZkrPOKhSnnNdEj3u2tNdUtvIMESNdT7s/s320/tent.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I made several images on red glass, ambrotypes, and a few test shots on aluminum. The light in a skylight kept changing with the sun going in and out of the clouds. Here's Kevin at the makeshift studio we set up.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiWTSMX8mAWU1hXWC5k34o5psvc2V2s4nvzxe4v9zuqMS8ZZh_2xw6IlGpSKNzdNc8WOM1euI3qdkNfx71lN6Q4DdSsIwqusudgc5iUyW7IZ7dWMnJkMrbLb42FbwzXr7ovLSDXjKJbR1c/s1600/Kevin.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiWTSMX8mAWU1hXWC5k34o5psvc2V2s4nvzxe4v9zuqMS8ZZh_2xw6IlGpSKNzdNc8WOM1euI3qdkNfx71lN6Q4DdSsIwqusudgc5iUyW7IZ7dWMnJkMrbLb42FbwzXr7ovLSDXjKJbR1c/s320/Kevin.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
As the sun would move across the sky, we would move the backdrop so it was just at the edge of the shade. Note the snazzy reflector holder at left that I bought at B&H a few weeks ago in New York. Also, my camera by Ty Guillory. on the right. </div>
<div style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
So here's a shot on aluminum of the subject.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgURMGKoS0GxImZPzJzh8v1uFhypbvXNu9Nj1MqBXaaKLlq1ZybetV56vorYhTyCnxfFgn0OyscECU5fQphZPfXagzjWaoSlBXFTVUYYNOqThmuwHD4nDH6tofARGIpKgMbKdiw9tsE3O4/s1600/headmistress.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgURMGKoS0GxImZPzJzh8v1uFhypbvXNu9Nj1MqBXaaKLlq1ZybetV56vorYhTyCnxfFgn0OyscECU5fQphZPfXagzjWaoSlBXFTVUYYNOqThmuwHD4nDH6tofARGIpKgMbKdiw9tsE3O4/s320/headmistress.JPG" width="240" /></a></div>
<div style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Then they wanted to film the process, so I made a couple of images on red glass (ambrotypes). The crew placed a red gel over a hot light to the right of the camera (out of the frame) to film the development step of the process. They also had a white light to shoot when I poured the fixer on the plate. Here, the Director of Photography Michael Goi is about to shoot the fixing. You can see the developed plate on the table.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi6dQForNpeINi00DKBMNtBXwNCXLNtFby8nhVA1wMjwXRlmdpJMEw_ZSdeScpcmqfD0cxAJqiZ8yb-hgWY9ZXbRD5Bzs-HXtebn0YXQMjLQkctQeL5UTu6DAGO2IpL4ob5xR-uYPsJPWs/s1600/camera+rolling.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi6dQForNpeINi00DKBMNtBXwNCXLNtFby8nhVA1wMjwXRlmdpJMEw_ZSdeScpcmqfD0cxAJqiZ8yb-hgWY9ZXbRD5Bzs-HXtebn0YXQMjLQkctQeL5UTu6DAGO2IpL4ob5xR-uYPsJPWs/s320/camera+rolling.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
With the red gel, it was nice and bright inside the tent, but there was just enough white light leaking from the setup to fog my plates. What would have been nice contrasty images turned out to be slightly muddy. But I was able to salvage the images with some a chemical mix called farmer's reducer.</div>
<div style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg2pr3B6wtsJ9lYdcUp2518g3Nj2WXQKynVZLOT5KbFirIuyAY2ikON_DoJmdtiKaezSybj9YxzvwdaSBFuPqOEJiCrFKNrzBz62mywvUoeR9cpSM9Ed8jQRpV09Yp34E7pEUqmMQtIwyY/s1600/ambro+lo+rez.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg2pr3B6wtsJ9lYdcUp2518g3Nj2WXQKynVZLOT5KbFirIuyAY2ikON_DoJmdtiKaezSybj9YxzvwdaSBFuPqOEJiCrFKNrzBz62mywvUoeR9cpSM9Ed8jQRpV09Yp34E7pEUqmMQtIwyY/s320/ambro+lo+rez.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Things got a little dicey at the end. We were running out of time. The show is shot on film, and it has to be flown out for development everyday at 5 pm so the results, the dailies, can be seen in time for the next day's shooting. So I had to make the last shot count. No time for retakes. Then, the sun went behind the clouds and we had to switch to artificial lights, which meant the exposure time had to be decreased slightly. I went from 8 seconds unlit in the previous shot to just 5 seconds. Nailed it. Whew. What a rush.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
There's talk they want me to come back and shoot more images at a scene in the quarter. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>

If that's you, you've been waiting for more than 3 years. So much has happened I won't even start to update things.<br />
But I will tell you that I have a piece accepted for the 2013 Louisiana Art Melt show in Baton Rouge. It's the second consecutive year I've had a piece accepted. Last year's was a photogram also of crabs and shrimp.<br />

This year's selection is a photogram I made with the help of Jackie Lyle. She urged me to try this, and provided the garment. She's also given me another piece to try, a christening gown.<br />
Now I have to make a frame to fit this. It measures 27 inches by 28 inches (a 16x20 on the top, and two 11x14s on the bottom).Bruce Schultzhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13724164905074838524noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6356396060955993824.post-37130043737340954812009-12-13T07:54:00.000-08:002009-12-13T08:00:52.809-08:00PhotonolaI had to be in New Orleans for work, so I managed to squeeze in a visit to Matthew White's exhibit at the Port of New Orleans office, then the Photonola party at the City Park museum.<br />At the party, I won a gorillapod light in the raffle, and I got to meet another wet plate photographer that I've only talked with via internet.<br />The official opening for the alt photo exhibit at Homespace in New Orleans was yesterday, but I was unable to make it. My wife is undergoing rehab for Guillian-Barre Syndrome, so I've got to stay close to home. My 4 tintypes are hanging with images by Sally Mann, Jerry Spagnoli, Deborah Luster and Josephine Sacabo, and several others.<br />Click <strong><em><a href="http://www.facebook.com/#/photo.php?pid=602919&id=1650576435">here</a></em></strong> to see more on the exhibit.Bruce Schultzhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13724164905074838524noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6356396060955993824.post-91276940718401921842009-12-07T07:04:00.000-08:002009-12-07T07:26:22.544-08:00Demo at PhotoNola<div><br /><br /><div>Saturday, I went to New Orleans to demonstrate the "black art" of wet plate photography as part of the photography event Photonola. The demo was at the Homespace Gallery on St. Roch St. where Richard McCabe of the Ogden Museum has curated a show of the work from practitioners of alternative photography.</div><br /><br /><br /><div>I was pleasantly surprised to see Claude Levet, one of the best wet plate photographers who ever donned a darkcloth, was in attendance. </div><br /><br /><br /><div>Below are some pictures I made at the demo. The sitters were positioned in the same location, but the photos at the bottom had a black cloth covering the window. I prefer the ones at the top. The solarization of the bright exterior light is a nice unusual touch. I used 2 continuous light banks with 5500K bulbs to get the required amount of UV.</div><br /><br /><div></div><br /><br /><p><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5412511685822438882" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 400px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 354px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjlDbhWnLgm9-3go8zJjsmSC9hgeY8kDuluLIiictS0OxiGzg4l8VaQ25CCtIrGy8_jj7IVt077B0hSQSpbtuni6_LeOqxu3wEL0pNwAE1BWk-eyMvhAkBIevX246V_6AYW5VVjwCqmeng/s400/homespace+portraits.jpg" border="0" /> Chris Williams of New Orleans sent me these images from the demo. It causes me to have a condition similar to bronchitis. Because I've always had asthma, I suppose I should have been more cautious with the chemicals, but they didn't cause any problems until this spring.<br />I've developed some safeguards to deal with the problem, but right now I need to stay away from the chemicals and get back to life without making images. That means I've had to back out of an event in Ohio this weekend.<br />I don't know if I will be able to resume this method of photography, although there are other processes I could learn.Bruce Schultzhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13724164905074838524noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6356396060955993824.post-2618779596704503922009-07-13T14:19:00.001-07:002009-07-13T14:28:57.730-07:00Visitors from FloridaWe had visitors recently from Florida, my wife's father, Rudy, and his companion, Linda.<br />While they were here, I got them to sit still for a few seconds to make their portraits. Rudy was determined to prove he could maintain a smile for the 6-second exposure under the UV lights. He did a good job, and Linda made one of the best portraits I've done with artificial lighting.<br />I used the lights again the night of July 10 at the Baton Rouge Art Melt. Unfortunately, I didn't get any copies of the pictures before they were placed in the hands of the subjects.<br /><br /><br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgU5OEI25_9gXXkiCXKiwLK7QEjHw9uumJeU0LV2RpHRpTSUwoitrcNXpONIkO7fZb0Qt6gU5cco0QC49zSrGa2Q7jxMy62auW9Gv4i8rgXhTnoILGNIxdjFi7w8USRa69XuetbK6RmdrQ/s1600-h/Rudy+and+Linda.jpg"><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 400px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 271px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5358057773369777794" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgU5OEI25_9gXXkiCXKiwLK7QEjHw9uumJeU0LV2RpHRpTSUwoitrcNXpONIkO7fZb0Qt6gU5cco0QC49zSrGa2Q7jxMy62auW9Gv4i8rgXhTnoILGNIxdjFi7w8USRa69XuetbK6RmdrQ/s400/Rudy+and+Linda.jpg" /></a><br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiteL6BGV4HHwu71OFj9Faa4cmMbjizX140FY1Uslm89WWDwRojGY9raeLNhaENQdKXlXLxc6GlOjP1jJUFIdZzPt3tk4KPZxi-836XiG0HA1vb9rIMUqcpsWCaTOa9kBjIRDuZWV2Bz6Y/s1600-h/Linda.jpg"><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 216px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 310px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5358057648433530642" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiteL6BGV4HHwu71OFj9Faa4cmMbjizX140FY1Uslm89WWDwRojGY9raeLNhaENQdKXlXLxc6GlOjP1jJUFIdZzPt3tk4KPZxi-836XiG0HA1vb9rIMUqcpsWCaTOa9kBjIRDuZWV2Bz6Y/s400/Linda.jpg" /></a><br /><br /><div><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjoQeOyGq9jIQ-MaJg2BMYsPEsHAUJddSC7XD2CQPUCizsqJEQU92oXeckNYMJUMGF2VxOvf8teikXL2bYYSTdnaNCZjdswj-QSnuL9nBz5C4BQAxZMXp0buoESopdhZz5IjpYgQA_vc9I/s1600-h/rudy.jpg"><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 300px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 229px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5358057545773958882" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjoQeOyGq9jIQ-MaJg2BMYsPEsHAUJddSC7XD2CQPUCizsqJEQU92oXeckNYMJUMGF2VxOvf8teikXL2bYYSTdnaNCZjdswj-QSnuL9nBz5C4BQAxZMXp0buoESopdhZz5IjpYgQA_vc9I/s400/rudy.jpg" /></a><br /><br /><br /><div></div></div>Bruce Schultzhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13724164905074838524noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6356396060955993824.post-87848956220571638962009-06-20T08:39:00.000-07:002009-06-20T08:57:29.671-07:00Fleur des Tease, finallyI finally got caught up on P-shop work, so here are my efforts from the shoot with Fleur des Tease from New Orleans. No matter where we were (Missouri, Texas and Mississippi) we got hit by bad weather. Below is a pic from the storm Sunday morning at Brice's Crossroads in Mississippi. The roof on one sutler's tent was knocked down. Tornado warnings were constant.</div><br /><div></div><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5348459161511618946" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 400px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 300px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjWE3JIKHblOlqpWW_7H3m5lSSRiDBFOeq67hTi5UwdE6AW2j4skpRq7pblyjdd8BkK0z8-F50HEfPgtj6dTFkiuP8OnVTWVLRfTD7QVJGtr-ReIUSI0gOBikPksFAFUSvstuyyQVA8wHM/s400/Sunday+storm.jpg" border="0" /> <div>Shortly after this, we packed up and headed home. I made some nice pictures at Brice's but it was too late in the day to make digital copies. </div><br /><div>While in Missouri, where we also had tornado warnings in the Kansas City area, I made some good images that are posted below. I have more, but I haven't had time to finish working on them. I also have images from my session with the girls from Fleur de Tease but again, I've not had time to get to them. Stay tuned.</div><br /><div></div><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5348459455173349986" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 300px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 400px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjV9DWFtpS-5IZjo37eIMPNwyxFzpjA02jA5Ut3igwR3RxYL2ktxrO8t3VN_s-u4m_48RBwKfaqLOB6SOVUA3R02n1FNg3mvRaNhn5Fi0PZCB38vsK5nn2aWScxQAnxFcpNRSrfmtj0ZAY/s400/firefighter+lo+res.jpg" border="0" /><br /><br /><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5348460012094685986" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 400px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 267px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiQ5wyiFeEE0Lk3cH02e8nJWS5ZnnYiT7EwLmY_C6cNJ0ilmnOGqGSlR2wpXcUc4BnbbII1bFpwKI-nUOKCot8t3eB5LVeFq9kku2QKZZOaxzRb13Zgjcka03WW53INmOhTTk4OBEX0xfo/s400/ruffians+lo+res.jpg" border="0" /><br /><div><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5348459654583134178" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 296px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 400px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiHbDWLQrFIrChxVcJmWvRwTMACEVOc8p9clGnRJ9rud45n8JOzo0WDxAX_FRJdmiZzROf-cH8y5TQdI22nEeZG5wlzI844Pi9sM061k_-cr1RZaIQk7vrk2CWoc_K6L7B-XM7Zf90Tt60/s400/straw+hat+lo+res.jpg" border="0" /></div></div></div>Bruce Schultzhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13724164905074838524noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6356396060955993824.post-23528106658099980482009-05-22T08:12:00.001-07:002009-05-22T08:29:23.453-07:00My next gigOK, so I'm over the movie thing now. It was fun, and I'd like to do it again but now I gotta get back to work. I tentatively have a shoot next weekend with some young ladies who will be in Lafayette for a performance Saturday downtown at Sadie's nightclub as a part of the Geronimo Festival. Here's their website:<br /><br /><a href="http://www.fleurdetease.com/Fleur_de_Tease/Home.html">http://www.fleurdetease.com/Fleur_de_Tease/Home.html</a>Bruce Schultzhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13724164905074838524noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6356396060955993824.post-67456872391594218392009-05-09T14:36:00.000-07:002009-05-09T14:45:28.222-07:00My cinematic debut<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEinaGNpIG63r7pkubD-ecki7fPEf_3NN6KYzlJ386q7whIHY2kUy9H0IHDearevRSOpDYuI6Mcu0acmhg-uy9UdL8q-r2jGAnik2FAOKAln4LaztjWc5Cnt1dSPjpLEjcMQjn_3O5_zPNU/s1600-h/me_on_the_set.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5333942752699446898" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 400px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 306px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEinaGNpIG63r7pkubD-ecki7fPEf_3NN6KYzlJ386q7whIHY2kUy9H0IHDearevRSOpDYuI6Mcu0acmhg-uy9UdL8q-r2jGAnik2FAOKAln4LaztjWc5Cnt1dSPjpLEjcMQjn_3O5_zPNU/s400/me_on_the_set.jpg" border="0" /></a><br /><div><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhIRiHaLAUr1LMXxhhmDzqC5Rfmbm3M8B7wu1umzMMvoDP2qwvYvWmtQkTb4sQu70aXoltckNw-uJ6xDxcuM7voVX3b2zs41dCTxFYSWl-GLMJiqcsvdy6erfh3WFY-ErtvLftZDFs1-gY/s1600-h/cookie.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5333942522390720850" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 400px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 310px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhIRiHaLAUr1LMXxhhmDzqC5Rfmbm3M8B7wu1umzMMvoDP2qwvYvWmtQkTb4sQu70aXoltckNw-uJ6xDxcuM7voVX3b2zs41dCTxFYSWl-GLMJiqcsvdy6erfh3WFY-ErtvLftZDFs1-gY/s400/cookie.jpg" border="0" /></a><br /><br /><div>I got a part in a movie being filmed in New Orleans. It's based on the Civil War comic book character "Jonah Hex" and it stars John Malkovich and Josh Brolin. In the scene, I played fiddle and Cookie Reaux played banjo and our tune was "Rosin the Bow." We provided music while a Union officer is eating supper and his meal is interrupted by Jonah.</div><br /><div>The makeup artist told me she wouldn't remove the silver nitrate stains on my hands because they added to my down and dirty look, but I quickly told her the stains are the result of my wet-plate photography and takes several days to wear off.<br /></div><div>Above are a couple of fotos of Cookie and me between takes outside the tent where the scene was filmed.</div><div> </div><div>I've been on movie sets before but never at a soundstage. The amount of personnel and equipment was amazing, and the investment being made in this Warner Bros. picture will be in the tens of millions, most spent in New Orleans.</div></div>Bruce Schultzhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13724164905074838524noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6356396060955993824.post-70451995426687709192009-05-05T07:07:00.000-07:002009-05-05T07:10:51.143-07:00POST SCRIPT FROM LIBERTY EVENTWhilst driving through Zachary, La., on my way home I got stopped by 2 police cruisers. I had no tail lights on my camper and utility trailer because a fuse had burned out. Many thanks to them for stopping me to alert me about this, AND for just giving me a warning. I bought a new fuse at a truck stop and proceeded home, arriving at 10:30, the end of a long day.Bruce Schultzhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13724164905074838524noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6356396060955993824.post-19934761111776444062009-05-03T17:58:00.000-07:002009-05-07T20:10:12.004-07:00Liberty, Miss., Bicentennial Soiree<div>Folks in Liberty, Miss., know how to throw a bicentennial birthday bash. Saturday was my first visit to this charming little town, and it won't be my last. Many thanks to the Amite County Historical Society for being so hospitable.<br />Many of the people were decked out for the 200th birthday, and they stopped by to have their images struck.
